Trip Highlights
What to expect on this trip
Three days from Arusha to the two destinations most people come to Tanzania for: the Serengeti plains and the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. The short safari, done properly, with a full day in the Serengeti rather than a rushed one.
Travellers with a few days rather than a fortnight. It works as a standalone trip, as an add-on before or after Kilimanjaro, or for anyone who wants the Serengeti and the crater without committing a full week to the road.
Lion, leopard and cheetah in the Serengeti's Seronera valley, the finest big-cat country in the park, then black rhino, elephant, buffalo and flamingo on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. Four of the Big Five in three days, often five.
A private 4x4 with a guaranteed window seat and the same professional guide from the first day to the last, staying in mid-range lodges and tented camps. Nothing is shared, no seats are sold on, and the pace is set by the wildlife.

Arusha to the Serengeti
Arusha to the Serengeti
We collect you in Arusha early and drive west, climbing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a stop at the crater rim viewpoint. It is a long drive, and we make it count: the descent onto the open plains beyond is one of the great approaches in Africa. We enter the Serengeti at Naabi Hill Gate around midday, stop for a picnic lunch, then game drive our way into the Seronera valley through the afternoon, watching the kopjes for lion. Dinner and overnight in the central Serengeti.

Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Highlands
Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Highlands
A full day in the Serengeti. We game drive from first light, when the cats are still moving and the light is best, working the Seronera river valley and the granite kopjes scattered across the plains. This is the richest big-cat country in the park: large resident lion prides, one of Africa's best chances of a leopard in a sausage tree, and cheetah hunting the open grassland. Picnic lunch in the bush. In the late afternoon we game drive our way out of the park towards the Ngorongoro highlands. Dinner and overnight near the crater.

03 Day 03
Ngorongoro Crater and Return to Arusha
Ngorongoro Crater and Return to Arusha
We descend into the Ngorongoro Crater in the morning, dropping six hundred metres down the wall to the floor of an intact volcanic caldera. The wildlife here is resident and does not leave: black rhino, big-maned lion, elephant carrying heavy tusks, buffalo, and flamingo massed on the shallow soda lake. In one compact bowl you can see more in a morning than some parks give you in a week. We climb out around lunchtime and drive back to Arusha, dropping you at your hotel or at Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Frequently Asked Questions
Travel Info at glance
What should I wear on a safari day?Wear lightweight, neutral-colored clothing (like khaki or beige) to stay cool and blend into the environment. Comfortable walking shoes, a hat, and sunglasses are also recommended. Early mornings and evenings can be chilly, so bring a light jacket.
What time do safari game drives usually start and end?Morning game drives typically start around 6:00 AM and last 3–4 hours, while afternoon or evening drives begin around 3:00–4:00 PM and return by sunset. Exact times may vary depending on the season and your lodge’s schedule.
Is it safe to go on a safari?Yes, safaris are safe when conducted by professional guides who follow park rules. Always remain in the vehicle unless instructed otherwise and avoid sudden movements or loud noises near wildlife.
Will I see all the Big Five during my safari?Sightings vary and are never guaranteed as animals roam freely. However, with experienced guides and multiple game drives, your chances of spotting the Big Five—lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo—are high in many national parks.
What should I bring with me on a game drive?Bring binoculars, a camera, sunscreen, insect repellent, water, and a small snack. Your guide may also provide some of these items, but it’s best to come prepared.
